About Bec

Bec Lewis fiction
Bec Lewis worked for two publishers in her early twenties, but didn’t catch the writing bug until she turned forty.

Her first short story won 3rd prize in the Writers Bureau Short Story Competition 2004, which had around 800 entries. This gave her the encouragement to keep going. Since then she has had further competition success and has also had stories published in a number of magazines including Best, Scribble, and Escape Velocity, and in the horror anthology, M is for Monster.

Her writing ranges from literary and speculative to quirky and fun. Occasionally she writes poems and limericks. Her nonsense poem ‘Deep-fried Flip-flops’ was framed and displayed in a public toilet in the Shetland Islands, as part of the Bards In The Bog project. The same poem was published in a charity booklet to raise funds for WaterAid.

When not writing she likes reading and art, and is addicted to cryptic crosswords and chocolate. She lives in Kent with her soul-mate, who makes her laugh every day.
